Tipaza

Tipaza is home to remarkable Roman ruins set along the Mediterranean coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site just 70km from Algiers — perfect for a day trip.

Tipaza is one of Algeria's most accessible and impressive archaeological sites — a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on a dramatic headland overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, just 70 kilometers west of Algiers. The ruins date primarily from the Roman period (1st–4th centuries AD) and include an amphitheater, basilicas, a necropolis, and the remnants of temples and baths, all set against a backdrop of pine trees and sea views.

Nearby, the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania — the tomb of the Berber king Juba II and his wife Cleopatra Selene — rises majestically above the coastal plain. This monumental circular tomb, 60 meters in diameter, is one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in North Africa.

The town of Cherchell, ancient Caesarea, lies a short drive further west and contains an excellent archaeological museum housing superb Roman mosaics and sculpture. Roza Tour offers private day trips to Tipaza and Cherchell from Algiers, combining both sites in a single memorable day along the Algerian coast.
