Tlemcen

Tlemcen, the Pearl of the West, blends Islamic architecture with Andalusian heritage in the heart of northwestern Algeria.

Tlemcen is one of Algeria's most historically rich cities, often called the Pearl of the West. Founded in the 9th century, the city flourished as the capital of the Zianid dynasty and became a major center of Islamic scholarship and Andalusian culture. Today, visitors can explore the magnificent Great Mosque of Tlemcen, one of the finest examples of Maghrebi architecture, the imposing El Mechouar Palace, and the ruins of Mansourah, a 14th-century royal city.

The Lalla Setti Plateau offers panoramic views over the city and surrounding mountains, while the Tlemcen National Park shelters forests, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. The city's historic medina is a UNESCO-listed ensemble of mosques, madrasas, and hammams dating from the 12th to 16th centuries.

Roza Tour offers private guided tours to Tlemcen from Algiers, combining the city's main landmarks with authentic local experiences — traditional crafts markets, local cuisine, and visits to the surrounding Berber villages. Tlemcen makes an ideal base for exploring western Algeria, including the nearby coastal town of Beni Saf and the thermal springs of Hammam Boughrara.
