One day is enough for the Casbah of Algiers. Three days add the Roman cities of Tipasa, Djemila and Timgad. Five or six days reach the Sahara — Djanet, Timimoun or Ghardaïa. Ten days cover the whole country, from Algiers and the Roman sites to Constantine and Ghardaïa.
A day in Algiers, or a day trip from it to Tipasa or Béjaïa.
The Roman sites, Constantine, Bou Saada or Ghardaïa.
The Sahara at Djanet and Timimoun, western Algeria, or a round of the north and east.
The whole country in one trip.
October to March is the best season for the Sahara. For the north — Algiers, Constantine, Oran and the Roman sites — spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are ideal. July and August are very hot inland but good for the coast.
